Common questions
Servicing
Will servicing here keep my new car warranty intact?
Yes. Every logbook service we carry out follows the manufacturer schedule for your model, and we stamp your logbook when it is done. Having your car serviced by an independent workshop does not affect your new car warranty.
Do you only work on BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce?
Those are our specialty and where most of our experience sits, along with European and prestige cars generally. We also service all major makes and models, so you are welcome to bring in whatever you drive.
What is the difference between a minor, logbook and major service?
A minor service covers an oil and filter change, fluid top-ups and a multi-point safety check. A logbook service adds all the manufacturer-scheduled items for your model at that interval. A major service is the full workover, with a deeper inspection plus plugs, filters and key fluids.
How long does a service take?
A standard service usually takes one to two hours. More involved repairs can take longer, and we will keep you updated along the way so you know where your car is up to.
What else do you do besides servicing?
Brakes, air conditioning re-gas and repairs, battery testing and fitting, tyres including balancing and alignment, and suspension and steering work. We also handle clutches, radiators, alternators and full computer diagnostics.
Where are you and what are your hours?
We are at 13 Metropolitan Avenue, Nunawading VIC 3131. The workshop is open Monday to Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm and Saturday 8:30am to 1:30pm. We are closed on Sundays.
Services
Are you a licensed roadworthy tester?
Yes. BM Garage is a licensed vehicle tester, so we can inspect your car and issue a Victorian roadworthy certificate here. If something needs attention before it will pass, we can carry out the repairs on site rather than sending you somewhere else and starting again.
I am buying a used car. Can you check it before I commit?
Yes. We put the car on a hoist and go through it properly, then tell you what we found and what it is likely to need. We have no stake in whether you buy it, so you get a straight answer either way.
Do you replace clutches and timing belts?
Both, yes. They are bigger jobs than a service, so we look at the car first and give you a fixed price before anything starts. Timing belt intervals vary a lot between models, so it is worth asking if you are unsure where yours is up to.
Can you do wheel alignment and tyres?
Yes, including fitting, balancing and alignment. If the car is pulling to one side or wearing its tyres unevenly, alignment is usually the first thing worth checking.
Is my air conditioning worth re-gassing?
If it is blowing warm, have the system checked rather than simply topped up. A re-gas on its own will empty again if there is a leak, so we look for the cause first and tell you what we find.
Booking
How do I book my car in?
Use the Book a Service form on our home page and pick the day and time that suits you, or call the workshop on (03) 9886 7244 and we will find you a spot.
Do I need to book in advance?
Booking ahead is the surest way to get the time you want. That said, we do our best to fit in urgent repairs and same-day requests, so it is always worth asking.
What details do you need when I book?
Your name, phone number and email, your car make, model, year, kilometres and registration, and a short note about what you need done. That lets us quote accurately and set aside the right amount of time.
Can I get a quote before I commit to a booking?
Yes, and it costs nothing. Send us your car details through the quote form, add a photo or two if something looks or sounds wrong, and we will come back to you with a fixed price.
Will I get a confirmation?
You will. Once your booking comes through we send a text confirming the day and time, and our team will be in touch if anything needs adjusting before you come in.
What if I need to change or cancel my booking?
Let us know as early as you can and we will move you to another time. A quick heads up also frees the slot for someone waiting on a repair.
Payment & Warranty
How much does a service cost?
It depends on your car and the level of service. As a guide, a minor service runs from $220 to $300, a logbook or scheduled service from $350 to $600, and a major service from $700. We give you a fixed-price quote upfront so you know exactly what to expect.
Are those prices fixed or an estimate?
The bands above are a guide so you can budget. The quote we give you for your specific car is a fixed price, agreed before any work starts.
Is the quote free?
Yes. Quotes cost nothing and come with no obligation. Send through your car details and what is happening, and we will price it properly rather than guess.
What parts do you use?
We fit parts and fluids from the brands we trust and use every day, including Bosch, Brembo, Bilstein, Mann, NGK, Castrol and Motul. If your car needs genuine parts to stay logbook compliant, that is what goes in.
Something does not feel right after my service. What now?
Get in touch and tell us what you are noticing. We would much rather have the car back in front of us and take another look than have you wondering about it.
