Scheduled servicing
Logbook Service in Nunawading
Servicing to the manufacturer schedule for your model, with the logbook stamped, at an independent workshop. Australian Consumer Law protects your new car warranty when the work is done properly, and doing it properly is the whole job.
What a logbook service is
A logbook service is the service the manufacturer specifies for your model at that particular interval. Every make sets its own schedule, and the schedule changes as the car ages, so the 60,000 kilometre service on one car is a completely different list of work from the 60,000 on another.
That is what separates it from a standard service. A minor service is an oil and filter change, fluid top ups and a multi point safety check. A logbook service is all of that plus every additional item the manufacturer calls for at that interval, which might be spark plugs, a fuel filter, a brake fluid change, a cabin filter, a coolant change, or an inspection item that has to be signed off. We work from the schedule for your car, not from a generic checklist.
When the work is done we stamp the logbook, so the service history stays unbroken and the next owner can see it.
Will it affect my new car warranty
No, provided the service follows the manufacturer schedule and uses parts of the correct specification. Under Australian Consumer Law a manufacturer cannot require you to service the vehicle at their own dealership in order to keep the new car warranty. The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission has said so plainly, and it applies to new cars sold in Australia.
What a manufacturer can require is that the servicing is actually done, on time, and to the correct specification. That is the part worth being careful about, and it is exactly why we work to the schedule for your model, fit parts and fluids that meet the specification, and stamp and date the book. Keep your invoices as well: between a stamped logbook and the invoices listing the work and the parts, you have the evidence a warranty claim needs.
This is a general explanation rather than legal advice. If you end up in a warranty dispute with a manufacturer, the ACCC website sets out where you stand in detail.
Parts and fluids
We fit parts and fluids from the brands we work with every day, among them Bosch, Brembo, Bilstein, Mann, NGK, Castrol and Motul. Where your car needs genuine parts to stay logbook compliant, that is what goes in, and we will tell you when that is the case rather than after the fact.
Oil is the item worth being fussy about. Modern European engines specify an oil to a particular manufacturer approval, not merely a viscosity, and the wrong oil can shorten the life of a timing chain or clog a particulate filter. We use the grade and the approval the manufacturer lists for your engine.
How long it takes and what to expect
A logbook service takes longer than a standard oil and filter service, because it adds every item the manufacturer schedules at that interval. How much longer depends on the car and on which service is due, so we tell you when you book how long to allow and whether it is a same day job.
If we find something outside the scheduled work, a worn brake pad, a leaking hose, a tyre down near the wear bars, we call you with the price before touching it. Nothing is added to the bill without you agreeing to it first. That single habit is what most of our reviews are actually describing when they use the word honest.
We are at 13 Metropolitan Avenue, Nunawading VIC 3131, open Monday to Friday from 8:00am and Saturday morning, closed Sundays.
คำถามที่พบบ่อย
Will a logbook service at BM Garage void my new car warranty?
No. Under Australian Consumer Law a manufacturer cannot require you to service at their dealership to keep the new car warranty, provided the servicing follows the manufacturer schedule and uses parts of the correct specification. We work to the schedule for your model, fit parts that meet it, and stamp the logbook.
How long does a logbook service take?
Longer than a standard oil and filter service, because it adds every item the manufacturer schedules at that interval. The exact time depends on the model and on which service is due, so we tell you when you book how long to allow and whether it is a same day job.
Do you stamp the logbook?
Yes. We stamp and date the book when the service is done, and you keep the invoice listing the work carried out and the parts fitted. Together those two things are the service history.
What is the difference between a logbook service and a minor service?
A minor service is an oil and filter change, fluid top ups and a multi point safety check. A logbook service is all of that plus every additional item the manufacturer specifies for your model at that interval, which is why both the price and the time vary from car to car.
Do I need to bring the logbook with me?
Bring it if you have it, so we can stamp it and see what has already been done. If the book has been lost we can still service the car to the correct schedule and give you an invoice recording the work.
